We’re living in a powder keg and giving off sparks

Marketing is not easy.

I take that back.

Good marketing is not easy.

Ineffective (another word for expensive) marketing is easy.

Effective (another word for makes you money) marketing needs more than a prompt.

And I know I can only prove that to you with an example.

And that’s easy because @Shelter has released its Christmas campaign.

And I must stop starting sentences with a conjunction.

Imagine the brief: ‘we need to stop people scrolling and make them care about families who don’t have homes.’

Tough for sure but hey, have you tried: ‘we need to make people understand the benefits of earth observation’?

Since 1966, Shelter – the National Campaign for Homeless People – has pursued its mission of trying to ensure that ‘everyone has a safe, secure, and affordable home.’

Since the charity is still active, that mission remains unfulfilled.

But that’s down to us, not them.

It’s not my fault, conjunctions make good sentence starters!

So how do you make people care about homeless people?

People who are scrolling.

You could tell them that they have to care.

You should make them feel guilty for having a home.

You would be better people for donating.

Or you could tell them a story.

A simple story of a child singing a song.

A song that will stay in your head and make you think of the story.

The story that makes you think about homeless people.

Watch the video below and enjoy the brilliance of a story told in sixty seconds.

With no words.

And then donate to Shelter or any other charity.

It will make you a better person.
